‘Mount Gay Distilleries’ teams have led a full brand repositioning, reimagining Ponche Kuba through a more lifestyle-driven, aspirational lens while remaining deeply anchored in its Caribbean roots.”

Rémy Cointreau is in the process of rolling out a refreshed look for its Ponche Kuba cream liqueur.

The brand, which is produced by the group’s Mount Gay distillery in Barbados, has been the subject of new packaging that was initially announced late last year. The rollout, which applied across the Caribbean and in the US in November, will hit the Netherlands from next week before arriving in the Dominican Republic in September.

The revamp has been designed to convey a “modern Caribbean identity” for the rum-based liqueur, which has an ABV of 9%. Also included in the move is a lighter bottle, down from the previous 630g to 550g.

“Ponche Kuba’s refreshed packaging is a natural evolution for the brand — one that celebrates our Caribbean roots, enhances our premium credentials, and advances our commitment to sustainability,” said Mount Gay MD Antoine Couvreur.

For the first half of the brand owner’s fiscal 2026, to the end of September, group sales came in down by 4.2% year on year, with Q2’s 11% tumble undoing the 5.7% lift registered in Q1. Remy Cointreau will report the results from its third quarter on Thursday (29 January).
