US-based El Bandido Yankee Tequila Co has appointed Matthew Slosek as its GM.
Slosek (below), joins the company from Casa Komos Brand Group, where he held the position of president, overseeing the Superbird tequila and RTD line, from late 2022 to earlier this year. Prior to his time with Casa Komos, owner of the Komos tequila brand, he also spent almost 14 years at Bacardi and ten with Moët Hennessy, most recently as VP for Belvedere vodka in North, Central & South America as well as in the Caribbean and global travel retail.
“This is an incredible opportunity with a brand that is perfectly positioned for immense success in the rapidly growing tequila category,” said Slosek. “El Bandido Yankee has the potential to be a dominant force in the industry and I’m excited to lead the charge … .”
Debuting with a blanco and a reposado in 2021, the namesake brand launched its third iteration almost exactly a year ago, with a limited-edition añejo joining the portfolio priced at US$67.99 in the US off-premise. El Bandido was founded by retired sportsmen James Robert Morris (American football) and Chris Chelios (ice hockey) and sources its tequila from El Viejito Distillery in Jalisco.
