Diageo has hired Procter & Gamble veteran Sujay Wasan as president of its ‘Asia Pacific’ (APAC) business, the drinks major has confirmed.
Wasan joins Diageo having spent almost 28 years at the FMCG giant, most recently as regional leader for the company’s ‘Oral Care’ unit in North America. He replaces John O’Keeffe, who held the title of CEO & president of Diageo Asia Pacific, Global Travel & India, before moving across to head up Diageo North America in March following the departure of Sally Grimes.
Wasan (below) is due to start his new role on 15 August, Global Drinks Intel understands. He will sit on Diageo’s executive committee and report directly in to new CEO Dave Lewis.
Lewis said of the appointment: “We’re delighted that Sujay will be joining Diageo. He is a global leader with a proven track record of consistently delivering breakthrough business results.”
The Johnnie Walker & Guinness brand owner is set to report its full-year 2026 results on Thursday (6 August), as well as provide details of Lewis’s hotly anticipated plans for the business.
Last month, Diageo lined up the former chief people officer at biopharmaceutical company Sanofi as the next head of its group HR operations. In June, UK MD Barry O’Sullivan was reported to be stepping down amid continued speculation around employee number reductions following Lewis’s appointment in January.
