Whyte & Mackay, the scotch whisky division of Philippines brandy giant Emperador, is preparing for a leadership switch.
Bryan Donaghey has notified the Fettercairn, Jura and The Dalmore brand owner of his intention to retire at the end of the year. The move will bring to an end Donaghey’s 12 years at the helm, with CFO Michael Sloan (below, left) being prepared as his replacement.
Donaghey joined Whyte & Mackay from Diageo, where he had been MD of operations in Scotland for nine years until 2013. During his tenure, he steered the company through its change of ownership when Emperador acquired the business from United Spirits 11 years ago.
“It has been a great privilege and honour to lead Whyte and Mackay for the past 12 years,” he said. “I am immensely proud of what we have accomplished during that time, and even more so, of the amazing people who made it all possible.
“I would like to thank all my colleagues for their hard work, commitment and support.”
Sloan, who takes on his new responsibilities on 1 January, joined Whyte & Mackay as CFO from Scottish soft drinks producer AG Barr in early 2015.
