The brand owner has confirmed that the change, prompted by Hinrichs’ decision to retire, will take effect at the start of July. Hinrichs has held the regional presidency for almost four years and will bring the curtain down on his near-28-year career with Brown-Forman on 30 June.

Masick, who started with the group in mid-2010 in corporate development, is being promoted from his current role as MD of Latin America, Africa, Ukraine and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

The ’emerging international’ unit covers Africa, Asia, Latin America, Australia, the Pacific Islands, New Zealand, India, the the Middle East, Ukraine and the CIS markets, as well as operations in the global travel retail channel.

“Thomas has been an invaluable asset to Brown-Forman’s global expansion … ,” said CEO Lawson Whiting. “He has made a lasting impact on Brown-Forman’s business and culture through his … deep commercial acumen and resounding commitment to the company’s success.”

In March, the Jack Daniel’s owner handed responsibilities for Europe to Yiannis Pafilis as its next regional president. The company, which booked flat sales for the nine months to the end of January, will report its final fiscal quarter’s results next month.
