Brown-Forman has created a new position in its leadership team, resulting in the head of European operations also assuming the position of chief strategic growth officer.
Marshall Farrer, who has spent the last two of his 16 years with the group as president of Europe, will be charged with “developing key partnerships and new growth opportunities to achieve the company’s short-term objectives and long-term ambitions”. The additional responsibilities will be handed over from the start of next year.
Working out of Amsterdam, Farrer is also a “fifth-generation Brown family shareholder”. His career so far has included stints as global brand director for the Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey flavoured whiskey and as MD of Global Travel Retail.

Brown-Forman has been in an acquisitive mood in recent months, acquiring Mediterranean brand Gin Mare in September followed by Venezuela’s Diplomático Rum almost exactly a month later. The company, which kicked off its fiscal 2023 with a 17% sales lift in Q1, will report its latest set of numbers next week.
