Finland-based Anora Group has unveiled an updated bottle for its Skagerrak Nordic gin brand.

The Northern European distributor and brand owner, which sold the Larsen cognac portfolio last year to “concentrate efforts on our chosen hero brands” including Skagerrak, has switched to a lighter bottle made using 60% recycled glass for the gin. The change will result in an average reduction in glass of 28% across the brand’s pack sizes.

Produced in Norway, Skagerrak debuted two years ago and is available throughout the Nordic region as well as in Germany and the global travel retail channel. Coinciding with the bottle revision, the gin, named after the Skagerrak Strait between Denmark’s Jutland peninsula and Norway and Sweden, will also go on sale in 1-litre bottles in GTR.

“This redesigned, more material-efficient bottle is an important step toward reducing our environmental impact and supporting responsible production”, said Skagerrak’s marketing director at Anora, Suvi Reinikkala. “The possibility to recycle all Skagerrak bottles is an important factor in creating a sustainable life cycle.”

As well as Skagerrak, Anora also owns the Koskenkorva vodka and Linie aquavit brands.

Last month, the company lost its CEO as Jacek Pastuszka prepared to “retire and resign” after 12 months in the role.
