Last week saw the grand opening of the globally renowned top-tier wine industry event, ProWein Düsseldorf.
To further enhance the international influence of the wine region and expand global export business, under the meticulous organisation and strategic coordination of Ningxia Helan Mountain East Foothill Grape Industry Park Management Committee, Helan Mountain’s East Foothill Wine Region made a powerful appearance at ProWein Düsseldorf.
The wine region joined forces with eight premium wineries- Ren Yi Yuan Winery, Kanaan Winery, Helan Qingxue Vineyard, Xiban Winery, Mulando Winery, He Lan Hong Winery, Huangkou Winery and Chateau Huahao – for a collective appearance. The aim was to present the unique charm and exceptional quality of China’s ‘Purple Business Card’ to the world in a comprehensive manner.
Exclusive themed booth showcases the essence of Oriental terroir
Helan Mountain’s East Foothill Wine Region made a stunning appearance with an exclusive themed booth, featuring a unified, meticulously crafted design that not only deeply highlighted the visual elements and cultural characteristics of the region, but also provided independent tasting and display areas for each participating winery.
Through an immersive setting and diverse presentation formats, wine professionals from around the world could intuitively experience the regional terroir, exquisite winemaking techniques and profound wine culture of Helan Mountain’s East Foothill Wine Region.
Major masterclasses – In-depth decoding of exceptional terroir
Two major masterclasses were hosted on Sunday 15 and Monday 16 March. The sessions were centred around the theme ‘Good Wine Originates from Unique Terroir’.
Professor Li Demei, head of the department of wine engineering at Beijing University of Agriculture, one of the world’s top ten most influential wine consultants, along with Mrs. Dorian Tang, WSET diploma holder and Level 4 educator, were specially invited to present the masterclasses respectively.
These two experts led sommeliers, buyers from the catering industry, wine distributors, targeted clients of the wineries and wine enthusiasts in professional tastings, deeply decoding the secrets of the region’s terroir. They also hosted interactive Q&A sessions between importers and representatives from each winery.
The masterclasses featured eight highly representative top-tier wines from the region, covering diverse styles such as white wines and red wines, showcasing the diversity and strength of the Helan Mountain’s East Foothill.

In addition to the masterclasses and business matching sessions, the tasting and display areas of eight wineries were open throughout the show days. Wine professionals and enthusiasts were welcomed to step into the booth for an immersive tasting experience featuring a diverse selection of fine wines. Here, one had the opportunity to engage in in-depth conversations with winery owners and senior winemakers, learning the terroir stories and heritage of craftsmanship behind each bottle while exploring the unique charm of wines from Helan Mountain’s East Foothill.
For Helan Mountain’s East Foothill Wine Region, the journey to participate in ProWein Düsseldorf 2026 in Germany has been far more than a simple exhibition of fine wines; it serves as a bridge connecting Eastern terroir with the global market.
