Here’s a round-up of the new launches from spirits brand owners in the week commencing 7 August.

Wolf Spirit Distillery’s Mr Pickles Pacific Northwest Gin

Eugene-based Wolf Spirit has named its new gin after an American pitbull terrier “rescued from the pound” by its master distiller
  • Gin, Oregon, 43% ABV. Distilled using 12 botanicals, including sencha green tea, pink peppercorns and marshmallow root
  • Released to the US off-premise this week, also available online
  • SRP of US$34.99 per 75cl bottle

Edrington’s Brugal Colección Visionaria Edición 01, Cacao rum

The ‘Colección Visionaria’ series kicks off with an expression aged in casks that have been toasted with cacao beans
  • Rum, Dominican Republic, 45% ABV
  • Released this week in the US through selected off-premise outlets
  • SRP of US$100 per bottle, on sale in limited quantities [four batches have been distilled]

The GlenAllachie’s Regional Wood Finishes single malt range

The three iterations have each been finished in different oak casks following maturation in ex-Bourbon barrels
  • Scotch whiskies, single malts, Speyside, ten- [Ruby Port Wood Finish], 11- [Marsala Wood Finish] and 12-year-old [Moscatel Wood Finish], all 48% ABV
  • Rolling out from this week exclusively to Asia [ten-year-old Ruby Port], the UK [11-year-old Marsala] and Europe [12-year-old Moscatel]
  • SRPs of GBP65.99 [US$84] for the ten- and 11-year-olds, GBP67.99 for the 12-year-old. Available in limited – albeit unspecified – numbers

Vapoura English rum

Vapura’s debut rum expressions are both distilled “in the heart of England”
  • Rum, UK. Spiced and Gold expressions, both have an ABV of 42%
  • Released in the UK in late June, available online
  • SRPs of GBP50 [US$64] for Vapoura Spiced, GBP65 for Vapoura Gold, both per 70cl bottle

Elixir Distillers’ Black Tot Master Blender’s Reserve 2023

Almost 20% of the liquid in this, the fourth bottling in Black Tot’s Master Blender’s Reserve, hails from the previous year’s expression, resulting in what the company calls a “perpetual blend”
  • Rum, blended, comprising rums from five Caribbean countries along with last year’s iteration and a ‘Navy Rum’ distilled in 1970, 54.5% ABV
  • Released to coincide with ‘Black Tot Day’ on 31 July, rolling out across Europe
  • In the UK, SRP of GBP145 [US$185] per 70cl bottle

Infinium Spirits’ Templeton Rye Tequila Cask Finish American whiskey

Iowa-based Templeton Distillery unveils the fifth expression in its namesake brand’s ‘cask finish series’
  • American whiskey, rye, Iowa, aged for “a minimum of” six years then finished in ex-Tequila Corralejo casks for three-to-six months, 46% ABV
  • Released worldwide next month on allocation, limited to 4,200 cases
  • SRP not immediately available

Angus Dundee Distillers’ Tomintoul GTR-exclusive range

Positioned as introductions to Tomintoul “at an accessible price point”, the three single malts have been matured in ex-Bourbon barrels, have been distilled using peated malt barley and have been finished in ex-Oloroso Sherry butts, respectively
  • Scotch whisky, single malts, Speyside, no age statements, all three carry a 40% ABV
  • Released this month exclusively to the global travel retail channel, in the UK, Dubai, China and India
  • SRPs in the UK of GBP40 [US$51] for Tundra, GBP45 for Tarn and GBP55 for Tor, all per 1-litre bottle
