Here’s a round-up of the new launches from spirits brand owners in the week commencing 11 December.

Rémy Cointreau’s Private Reserve Metaxa Orama

  • Brandy, Greece, 40% ABV
  • Lined up for release in February in markets including the UK, where the expression will be available online
  • In the UK, SRP of GBP80 (US$102) per bottle
Two of Metaxa’s master distillers have come together to create an extension of the brandy that has been sourced from “sustainably grown” Muscat grapes

Brown-Forman’s Old Forester Scotch Cask Finish bourbon

  • American whiskey, bourbon, Kentucky, finished in casks from an unnamed Scotch distiller in the Speyside region, 46.5% ABV
  • On sale in limited numbers through selected of-premise outlets in Kentucky
  • SRP of US$59.99 per 75cl bottle
The next bottling in Old Forester’s two-year-old ‘117 Series’ line pays homage to founder George Garvin Brown’s “Scottish heritage”

Maestro Dobel Atelier tequila, Trajineras Edition

  • Tequila, Extra Añejo, matured for “over three years” in either first-fill American or European oak barrels, 40% ABV
  • On sale in the US from this week, also available online through ReserveBar
  • SRP of US$250 per unit, in limited – albeit unspecified – numbers
Debuting last year with the Charreria Edition, Dobel’s Atelier extension returns with five new pack designs, all hand-painted and themed around the “colourful and adorned boats from Xochimilco in Mexico City”

Pernod Ricard’s The Chuan Pure Malt Chinese whisky

  • Whisky, China, distilled using both European and Chinese barley. No age statement, matured in ex-bourbon casks, then in ex-sherry casks before spending time in first-fill Chinese casks made of oak grown in the Changbai Mountain area in the northeast of the country
  • Released domestically this week “through selective channels”
  • SRP of CNY888 (US$124) per bottle
The first expression from Pernod Ricard’s The Chuan Malt Whisky Distillery in Sichuan, which commenced operations just over two years ago, is released in China this week

La Martiniquaise-Bardinet’s Glen Moray Phoenix Rising single malt

  • Scotch whisky, single malt, Speyside, no age statement, finished in “heavily charred” oak barrels, 40% ABV
  • Released this month to markets including France, Japan, the Netherlands and South Korea
  • SRP of EUR70 (US$76) per bottle
The latest extension for Glen Moray comes nine months after its owner updated the packaging for the single malt’s ‘Explorer’ line
