US wine company WarRoom Cellars has acquired the California-based SIMI brand from The Wine Group.

The deal, announced late last week, gives WarRoom control of a winery founded in 1876 and based in Healdsburg in Sonoma County. SIMI is notable for having survived Prohibition under the leadership of Isabelle Simi, who ran the business for around 60 years.

Financial details behind the transaction were not disclosed.

The production of SIMI will be overseen by WarRoom’s director of winemaking, Nicole Walsh, while Total Beverage Solution will handle the sales and distribution under its existing partnership with WarRoom.

“We’re thrilled to have found such a great fit for the iconic SIMI brand with WarRoom Cellars,” said The Wine Group’s CEO, John Sutton. “The sale supports The Wine Group’s continuous focus on aligning our portfolio to current and long-term goals.”

In September, WarRoom Cellars acquired the Iris Vineyards business in Oregon’s Willamette Valley for an undisclosed fee.
