The Tax Free World Association (TFWA) has signed a renewal agreement with the operating manager of the longstanding home of the global travel retail non-profit’s flagship event.
The TFWA’s annual World Exhibition & Conference has been held at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès de Cannes in the south of France since 1986. Earlier today (28 September) at this year’s edition of the trade show, TFWA president Sarah Branquino renewed the existing agreement with Nicolas Gorjux, president of the Société d’Économie Mixte des Évènements Cannois (SEMEC).
Subsequently, the Cannes venue will host the event for “at least three further years”.
Branquinho said: “The strong spirit of partnership we share with the city, the Palais des Festivals and our local partners has been instrumental to the continued success of our flagship event. Over the years, Cannes has become much more than a destination: for one week each year, it is the global meeting place and home of the duty free and travel retail industry.”
This year’s event commenced yesterday, with the exhibition halls opening today until Thursday (1 October).
In July, the TFWA announced the immediate departure of its MD, Franck Waechter. The news was followed a week later by confirmation of the appointment of former Brown-Forman executive Charlène Tourneaux to the position.
