Sazerac Co has entered into an exclusive sales and distribution agreement with Piedmont Distillers in the US for its Midnight Moon brand.
In a short release today (27 January), Sazerac said the moonshine and flavoured-liqueur brand is “fast-growing” but did not share details of its sales or distribution strategy. The move follows Sazerac’s deal with Coca-Cola’s Red Tree Beverages subsidiary in September, which saw it take over the production and distribution of alcoholic RTD lines Fresca Mixed, Fresca Hard and Minute Maid Spiked.
“[Midnight Moon] has made amazing strides in the last few years, and we look forward to unlocking even more opportunities with this relationship,” said Sazerac CEO Jake Wenz.
Piedmont Distillers was founded in 2005 in North Carolina and produces other brands such as Catdaddy spiced moonshine and The Clover Whiskey. The Midnight Moon range includes unflavoured and flavoured moonshines and cream-based Moonshakes, packaged in mason-style jars.
Last week, the Fireball brand owner lost a case against US peer Patco Brands after a patent spat over their respective RTD brands, BuzzBallz and Big Sipz.
