Californian craft distiller Redwood Empire Whiskey has elevated its existing relationship with Savage & Cooke, taking ownership of the San Francisco Bay Area-based facility.
Ten-year-old Redwood Empire, which produces its namesake brand’s portfolio out of Graton to the north of San Francisco, has spent an undisclosed sum on Savage & Cooke. The pair have worked together “for supplementary whiskey production in recent years”, according to the former.
Included in the purchase are the distillery and warehousing as well as an on-site bar and all of Savage & Cooke’s spirits brand assets.
“Demand for our offerings has far exceeded our production capacity for several years,” said the CEO of Redwood Empire parent Purple Brands, Aaron Webb. “This move solves that challenge, but it’s not just about expansion – it’s about … pushing the boundaries of what we can create.”
According to Redwood Empire, its 2024 volumes totalled 55,000 nine-litre cases, representing a year-on-year rise of 30%.
