MGP Ingredients has released details of a new “corporate identity” and will be rebranded as Sempreon from 2 November.
The name change, announced this week, is part of an effort to reflect the Kansas-headquartered business’s three areas of focus, which include contract distilling and brand-building as well as ‘ingredients solutions’. Alongside the corporate brand name change, the listed company will see its Nasdaq ticker updated from MGPI to CASK.
“Sempreon is the next chapter for a company that’s been building toward this for years,” said CEO Julie Francis. “Since 1941, we’ve grown from a single distillery into a business spanning branded spirits, distilling solutions and ingredient solutions.
“This name brings all three of our businesses under one identity.”
MGP’s branded spirits division was formed after the company’s purchase of Luxco in 2021, and houses marks including Penelope Bourbon – purchased for US$105m in 2023 – Yellowstone Bourbon, El Mayor Tequila and Pearl Vodka. Under its distilling solutions division, MGP handles supplying, distilling, ageing and blending of bourbon, rye, whiskey and gin, while the ingredient solutions branch produces ingredients for food manufacturers.
Last month, the group moved its namesake distillery into consumer-facing brands for the first time with the launch of MGP Chapter One bourbon.
