The US division of Marussia Beverages has headed to Ohio, snapping up Watershed Distillery in the state’s capital.
The acquisition, for an undisclosed sum, sees Watershed’s full portfolio, which features American whiskies, gins, speciality spirits and a vodka, join Marussia’s stable in the country. Also included is the 13-year-old company’s production facility in Columbus.
Founder & CEO Greg Lehman, who will remain in post, described working with Marussia as having been “energising and exciting”.
“As we plan to grow our footprint here in Central Ohio and throughout the country, we see potential opportunities for our current team, future employees, and the Columbus region,” he said.
As well as its own brands Marussia, which was founded by Frederik Paulsen in 2004, also handles importation duties for the likes of Hatozaki Japanese whisky and Mozart chocolate liqueurs in the US.
