Marie Brizard Wine & Spirits has acquired a controlling stake in wine and spirits distributor Interbrands Denmark.
The acquisition, announced yesterday (13 November), has secured additional market reach for Marie Brizard across Denmark’s on-and off-premise and border-trade channels, while Interbrands will continue operating under its existing name and management. Financial details were not revealed.
Marie Brizard CEO Fahd Khadraoui said Interbrands “has established itself as a highly respected distributor with a portfolio that perfectly complements our own,” adding that the deal aligns with the French group’s plan to “accelerate external growth and expand our ‘Agency Brands’ business.”
The Danish distributor handles spirits brands for companies including Angostura, Heaven Hill, Stock Spirits and Whyte & Mackay, as well as English wine producer Chapel Down, among others.
Last month, Marie Brizard posted a second consecutive quarter of double-digit sales declines as its flagship blended scotch brand, William Peel, continued to struggle in France.
