UK-based Kirker Greer Spirits is preparing the New Zealand launch of its Ukiyo Japanese gin & vodka brand.
The three-strong 40% ABV line, comprising gins Ukiyo Blossom and Yuzu as well as Ukiyo Rice Vodka, will be positioned at the “super-premium” end in the country. All three will carry an SRP of NZD89.99 (US$56) each per 700ml bottle.
Distribution responsibilities will sit with Hancocks Wine, Spirit & Beer Merchants.
According to Northern Ireland-headquartered Kirker Greer, Ukiyo rolled out to Australia and Singapore last year. While the two gins are distilled in Kagoshima on the south-west tip of Japan’s mainland, Ukiyo Rice Vodka hails from the far south island of Okinawa.
In June, Scapegrace Distilling Co commenced construction of a distillery, claimed to be the largest in New Zealand.
