Single malt Scotch whisky producer Kilchoman Distillery is lining up its entry into the global travel retail channel, through a distribution arrangement with Sipwell Brands.
The Islay-based owner of the namesake single malt will join its peer on the island, Port Askaig, on Sipwell’s books. The tie-up, which applies “across multiple international markets”, will focus on “key global hubs and top-tier destination airports”, Sipwell said this week.
As well as its four-strong line of whiskies – Machir Bay, Sanaig, Loch Gorm and 100% Islay – Kilchoman will also roll out the Coull Point expression as a GTR channel exclusive. With an ABV of 46%, the iteration will retail for GBP54.99 [US$70] per bottle.
Two years ago, according to Sipwell, Kilchoman, which is owned by founder Anthony Wills, acquired land on Barbados with a view to constructing a rum distillery on the island.
Late last year, Sipwell, which was founded four years ago by former Beam Suntory and William Grant & Sons executive Andrew Torrance and Calum Lawrie, signed up Colombian rum brand Dictador.
