Dictador has farmed out its Global Travel Retail distribution capabilities, appointing UK-based Sipwell Brands.
The Colombian rum company will see its namesake brand sit alongside Scotch whiskies The Glenturret and Port Askaig as well as Black Tot Caribbean rum in Sipwell’s portfolio. When contacted by Global Drinks Intel today, a spokesperson said that Dictador had previously handled its own GTR distribution.
Sipwell, founded four years ago by former Beam Suntory and William Grant & Sons executive Andrew Torrance and Calum Lawrie, who used to work for Diageo, will be responsible for Dictador worldwide in GTR. “The goal is for Dictador to be available across all key hub destination airports including London Heathrow, Amsterdam Schiphol, Singapore, Istanbul, LAX and JFK,” the company said.
Earlier this month, Dictador released a rum expression in a 24-carat-gold bottle that retails for US$1.5m.
