Invivo & Co and Graham Norton have released Zero Sauvignon Blanc, the first non-alcoholic extension of Norton’s namesake wine range.
The SKU joins New Zealand and South African sauvignon blancs in the GN portfolio – a joint venture between TV chat show host & presenter Norton and Invivo’s founders, Rob Cameron and Tim Lightbourne. The new addition will be available in the UK and Ireland “this autumn”, Invivo said – Global Drinks Intel has asked for further rollout information.
GN Zero Sauvignon Blanc (below) is produced using full-strength New Zealand wine as a base, which is then dealcoholised using spinning cone technology. An undisclosed technique is then used to “rebuild the palette weight to restore mouthfeel”.
“We’ve wanted to create a zero-alcohol sauvignon blanc with Graham for a long time,” said Cameron, who is also Invivo’s winemaker. “The real challenge with producing a great 0% still wine is texture – so after gently removing the alcohol, we rebuilt the palate weight using natural techniques to keep that classic GN mouthfeel.
“The result has all the hallmarks of a great New Zealand sauvignon blanc, just without the alcohol. As more people flex when and how they drink, this is the perfect pour – and a natural fit alongside our full-strength New Zealand and South African sauvignon blancs.”
Late last year, Australian Vintage announced it was taking over the distribution of Invivo’s portfolio, including the GN range, across the UK and Ireland. In August, Invivo received financial backing from New Zealand contract wine maker Indevin Group to help it expand into international markets.
