Casa Azul has confirmed another investor from the world of sport, with professional golfer Brooks Koepka buying into the tequila start-up.
One year on from its debut with the namesake tequila-based RTD brand, Casa Azul announced last week that Koepka has acquired an unspecified size stake for an unspecified sum. The 33-year-old, who joined the LIV Golf League last year, lines up alongside fellow US golfer Michelle Wie West and American footballer Travis Kelce on Casa Azul’s roster.
Earlier this year, the company, which is headed by Bodyarmor co-founder Lance Collins, moved up the ABV ladder, launching a three-strong portfolio of tequilas in the US. The trio are on sale now in 12 states, including California, at US$69, $89 and $129, respectively.
Elsewhere in the category this month, Proximo Spirits secured ‘Official Tequila’ status for Maestro Dobel with tennis’s US Open. The company will highlight the brand’s cristalino expression through its tie-up at the tournament, which starts on 28 August.
