The founder of American whiskey brand George Remus has assumed the leadership of US-based Slovakian vodka owner Double Cross Spirits.
JB Kropp, who oversaw the sale of George Remus to MGP Ingredients from his co-founded Queen City Whiskey business six years ago, will fill the CEO space previously filled by Linda Gawne. According to Florida-based Double Cross, Gawne is stepping down after five years at the helm to become board chair.
The switch takes place at the end of August with Kropp already working with Gawne on the transition process.
Double Cross vodka, which is distilled from winter wheat in Slovakia, is available across the US, predominantly through Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits. The namesake owner is looking to make the brand “the country’s leading ultra-premium vodka”.
A 750ml bottle is available for around US$34.99 when ordered online through Drizly.
