BrewDog has confirmed that co-founder Martin Dickie will step down from the business – and leave the alcohol industry – for “personal reasons”.
Dickie said his decision was linked to family commitments and confirmed he would not remain active in the alcohol industry. His departure date was not immediately available.
Dickie co-founded BrewDog in 2007 and played a central role in scaling the company from a start-up in north-east Scotland to an international craft beer operator active in more than 60 markets. In recent years, he also helped establish BrewDog Distilling Co., which produces LoneWolf Gin (above), Abstrakt Vodka, Duo Rum, Casa Rayos Tequila and the Wonderland RTD range.
Chief executive James Taylor credited Dickie with advancing product development, safety standards and supplier relationships during his tenure. BrewDog stated there will be no changes to the existing leadership structure following his departure.
The company said it will continue to prioritise its core craft beer operations while pursuing growth in the spirits and RTD categories, alongside its ongoing sustainability initiatives.
Last month, BrewDog revealed that it will shutter ten on-premise outlets in the UK as part of a “rationalisation of our bar footprint”, including its flagship bar in Scotland.
