Longstanding senior executive Kirsten Hawley is preparing to leave Brown-Forman, with Diane Nguyen set to replace her.

Having informed the brand owner last month of her intention to retire, Hawley will step down as chief people, places & communications officer in August. The move will bring an end to Hawley’s 27-year career with Brown-Forman.

Diane Nguyen

Nguyen (above) will step up from her current position as senior VP for HR & the global commercial & corporate teams. Joining the company in 2008 as global production HR manager from Colgate-Palmolive Co, Nguyen has moved through the ranks, including a year as North America HR director before starting in her current role at the start of 2022.

The CPPCO position includes in its responsibilities the creation and execution of “strategies to build the culture, people, processes and structures needed to achieve Brown-Forman’s strategic ambitions”. Nguyen will also oversee corporate communications and workplace strategy for the business.

Earlier this month, Brown-Forman reported a 1% slip in sales for fiscal 2024 – to the end of April. Despite a 5% top-line decline in the year’s final quarter, sales for the current fiscal year are forecast to increase by between 2% and 4%.
