The pending departure of a divisional lead has prompted a brace of internal promotions at Moët Hennessy.
Jean-Marc Gallot, who has been the president of the ‘Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin’ division for the group since 2014, is poised to leave the company to take a role outside of the beverage alcohol industry. Replacing him at the champagne unit is Thomas Mulliez (below), the current president of the ‘Europe, Middle East & Africa’ region.
Mulliez has been in his current role since mid-2023, having started with Moët Hennessy as MD of ‘Latin America & the Caribbean’ at the start of 2020.
The EMEA reins will be taken by the current CEO of Moët Hennessy France, Laure Baume, who joined the company as its chief consumer officer in May 2018. Baume (below) moved across to head up the Moët Hennessy Diageo joint venture in France at the end of 2021, before also assuming the lead for the group’s own domestic unit at the start of this year.
Mulliez will report in to CEO Jean-Jacques Guiony, while Baume’s direct report will be to the deputy CEO, Alexandre Arnault.
In July, the Hennessy cognac and Moët & Chandon wine brand owner posted its sixth consecutive quarter of declining sales. In the three months to the end of June, sales slipped by 4% versus the year-prior quarter, resulting in a -7% top-line showing from the first half of 2025.
