The US arm of AB InBev is undertaking a restructure of its production network in the country, confirming plans to divest one brewery and close two others next year.

Anheuser-Busch has confirmed plans to sell its facility in Newark, New Jersey, to global property business the Goodman Group, while production sites in Fairfield, California, and Merrimack, New Hampshire, will shut in “early 2026”. Production from all three locations will be shifted to other US breweries, a company spokesperson told Global Drinks Intel.

A total of 475 employees will be affected by the changes, with Anheuser-Busch saying it will offer “all of them a full-time role elsewhere in our US operations”.

The spokesperson said: “These changes will enable us to invest even more in our remaining operations and in our portfolio of growing, industry-leading brands.”

The decision comes at the end of a year that saw the US division invest in six of its manufacturing facilities across the country. Most recently, the unit said it will spend US$9.2m on its production facility in Cartersville, Georgia.

These injections formed part of AB InBev’s ‘Brewing Futures’ initiative, announced earlier this year, that consisted of $300m for its manufacturing operations in the US.
