More craft distilleries opened than closed in the US in 2025 for the first time in at least a decade, according to research from the American Craft Spirits Association (ACSA).

More craft distilleries opened than closed in the US in 2025 for the first time in at least a decade, according to research from the American Craft Spirits Association (ACSA).As of August 2026, there were 2,131 ‘active’ craft distillers in the country, representing a 6.6% decline year on year. The craft spirits category also lost market share and saw sales decline in volume (-8%) and value (-3.7%) in 2025.
