Sazerac Co has launched two whiskeys under previously dormant Kentucky whiskey brand Glenmore.
The first, Glenmore Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, is now available through Sazerac’s US distributor network while the second, Glenmore Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey, will be released later this month. Both expressions are produced at the Sazerac Glenmore Distillery and carry an SRP of US$9.99 per 75cl bottle.
Glenmore Distillery was founded in Kentucky in 1869 and ceased production in 1992. Sazerac bought the site in 2009 and until now has used it to support production, barrel aging and bottling operations across “a variety of spirits categories”.
“The Glenmore name has an incredible history, and we’re honored to help write its next chapter,” said Sazerac’s global growth and innovation director, Lauren Selman. “As the owners and operators of The Glenmore distillery, we have long desired to bring this brand back to life. There is an entrepreneurial spirit and willingness to innovate that define the distillery’s history, and we saw an opportunity to give those qualities new life. We’re excited to whiskey fans to try this release and celebrate this new era with us!”
In June, Sazerac Co confirmed it is in the process of purchasing Garrard County Distilling Co, which is also based in Kentucky.
