Mexico’s wider economic backdrop is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore, despite the fillip that co-hosting the FIFA World Cup this summer will likely provide.

In Mexico, crashing agave prices and cheaper 100% agave tequilas have given the category a boost. However, despite the promise of this summer’s World Cup, the wider spirits category faces a raft of different challenges in the country.
