Suntory Global Spirits has hired actor Lucien Laviscount to front a UK marketing push for its Maker’s Mark bourbon.
The ‘Emily In Paris’ actor appears in a 47-second advert for the brand (below) that debuted on his Instagram page this week. Laviscount has also recorded an old fashioned cocktail-making video for the brand, which will go live on Maker’s Mark’s social media channels next week.
The campaign, part of the American whiskey’s ‘Perfectly Unreasonable platform’, also includes an on-premise assets through steak restaurant chain Hawksmoor – the London St Pancras branch of which features in the two videos. To mark Father’s Day in the UK on Sunday 21 June, Hawksmoor sites in Edinburgh, Liverpool, London and Manchester will be selling a GPB10 (US$13.43) Maker’s Mark Kentucky River – a twist on an old fashioned – across this month (the restaurant’s signature cocktails usually start at GBP14 [US$18.80]).
“We’re really excited about this partnership with Maker’s Mark and Lucien Laviscount,” said Suntory Global Spirits’ UK & Ireland MD, Nick Temperley. “It talks directly to how consumers feel and act today.
“We all make small compromises day to day, but when it comes to the moments that matter, with good company and simple-to-make quality cocktails – these are the things worth getting right.”
Suntory Global Spirits launched the ‘Perfectly Unreasonable’ brand campaign for Maker’s Mark in February last year, with a one-minute advert that premiered on US TV network NBC. The spot was then rolled out internationally.
