‘This year will also be demanding, as developments in the first few months of the year have already shown.’

  • Sales from 12 months of 2025 flat versus FY 2024 at EUR1.25bn (US$1.47bn)
  • Mionetto, “the world’s best-selling international prosecco brand”, up 3% in sales
  • Sparkling wine flagship Freixenet falls by 4%

Sparkling wine giant Henkell Freixenet has posted a flat set of sales figures from last year, warning also that 2026 is likely to prove “demanding”.

Almost exactly 12 months after reporting a +1.5% year-on-year lift in sales from 2024, the privately-owned group said today that last year delivered a 0.5% inch-up of its top line. The 12-month period was coloured by what the Germany-headquartered business called a “strained global economy and cautious consumer spending”.

[Note: All figures refer to performance in reported terms, which include foreign exchange fluctuations.)

Privately-owned Henkell Freixenet, which is not obliged to release details of its sales performances, noted that while the prosecco category overall was up in value sales terms in 2025 by 2% (according to the Prosecco Consortium earlier this month), its Mionetto prosecco mark delivered a 3% increase. However, “the world’s leading sparkling wine brand”, Freixenet, was pulled downwards by its cava expression following a continuation of drought conditions in Spain’s Penedès region combined with the impact of tariffs on exports to the US.

Subsequently, the Freixenet portfolio declined by 4% in 2025.

Over in no-alcohol, the company boasted of its “numerous non-alcoholic innovations” as helping position Henkell Freixenet for the future. “Mindful alcohol consumption is no longer a niche trend,” the company said. “It is evolving into a relevant market segment with clear growth potential.”

Reference was also made to last year’s tie-up in the US with Korbel Champagne Cellars. “The US is our second-largest sparkling wine market after Germany,” said CEO Andreas Brokemper. “We expect subdued consumption due to tariff policies and the resulting price increases, but we have a strong portfolio with brands such as Mionetto, Freixenet, and Segura Viudas – and now Korbel as well.”

Elsewhere, subsidiaries commenced operations in Argentina, Croatia and Ireland last year, “further expanding our international business through local presences”.

“This year will also be demanding, as developments in the first few months of the year have already shown,” Brokemper concluded. “Nevertheless, we are optimistic: our brands are strongly positioned in growth markets such as prosecco, aperitivo, crémant and non-alcoholic beverages, and we have an extensive innovation pipeline … .”

In February, the group released details of a 15-market debut for Freixenet Solare, an 11%-ABV spirits extension of the sparkling wine mark.
