The Boston Beer Co’s CMO, Lesya Lysyj, is to make way next month after seven years with the brewer.

Lysyj’s time in the role will conclude on 6 March, but she will remain with the company in an advisory capacity until the end of September, according to an SEC filing this week. Lysyj (below) joined the Samuel Adams brewer as its marketing lead in May 2019.

COO Phil Hodges will temporarily oversee the marketing team, with marketing functions reporting into his office while Boston Beer “evaluates permanent leadership options”.

The news comes six months into interim CEO Jim Koch’s term at the helm, following the resignation of Michael Spillane.

Lysyj was the CMO at Heineken’s US unit from 2010 to 2013, before moving to become the president of diet company WeightWatchers’ North America arm. She then spent two years as US president of food manufacturer Welch’s.

Boston Beer’s marketing team is running a Valentine’s Day push this month for the group’s Angry Orchard brand, inviting consumers to send in their ex-partners’ old items in return for US$25 in cash.
