Diageo has introduced an alcoholic, iced tea RTD extension of its Gordon’s gin brand in South Africa.
The premix, developed with South African tea business BOS Brands, has rolled out nationally across major retailers and convenience stores in the off-premise channel. The Gordon’s and BOS G&Tea blends Diageo’s gin with BOS’s rooibos-based iced tea and is available in lemon with mint and peach with rosemary flavours.
The alcoholic strength of the new releases was not immediately available, but they are referred to as “lower-ABV”.
According to Diageo’s regional marketing lead, Atlegang Moloko, the partnership “opens new ways to moderate” and reflects shifting consumption habits among Gen Z and Millennials in the country. BOS CEO William Battersby added that the launch marks the company’s “most significant category innovation leap to date”.
The London-headquartered spirits major launched Gordon’s Spritz Edition RTD in the UK in September.
