The American Whiskey Association has announced that barrel manufacturer & cooperage Independent Stave Co has become a ‘founding member’ of the group.
The white oak barrel producer joins the likes of brand owners Brown-Forman, Campari Group, Diageo, Pernod Ricard, Sazerac Co and Suntory Global Spirits as a founder of the recently constituted trade association. The AWA said the membership addition strengthens its vision of collaboration across the full whiskey ecosystem – from grain producers and coopers to distillers and distributors.
AWA CEO Michael Bilello said ISC “embodies the innovation, integrity and commitment to sustainability that make American whiskey what it is today,” adding that the company’s inclusion reflects a shared mission to “protect, promote and lead” the industry globally.
ISC CEO Brad Boswell added that the company looks forward to working with the AWA and other members “to ensure that American whiskey continues to thrive both here at home and around the world”.
Bilello was appointed head of the association in September, coming from the Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America, where he most recently was executive VP of strategic communications & marketing.
