A group of former employees of the now-Suntory Global Spirits-owned On The Rocks brand has re-entered the RTD category, acquiring espresso martini premix Can-Tini.

High Basin Brands, which came into being two years ago, has paid an undisclosed sum to Can-Tini founder Henry Rathjen. The cocktail-based RTD will sit alongside the brands held by Treaty Oak Distilling – including Ghost Hill and The Day Drinker American whiskies and Ghost Hill Organic Vodka – on High Basin’s books.

The Texas-based company bought Treaty Oak, which is also based in the state, late last year.

“Can-Tini is everything we look for in a breakout brand,” said High Basin CMO – and former On The Rocks marketing director – Jordan Rothschild-Noomé. “This milestone wouldn’t have been possible without the continued support of our growing investor community.”

On The Rocks was bought by Beam Suntory – the company changed its name to Suntory Global Spirits last year – in September 2020. Among High Basin’s senior team are Rothschild-Noomé and Alexandre Fauveau, who is listed as co-founder and was the finance & operations leader at On The Rocks from 2018 to 2021.

Fellow co-founder Steve Ousley stepped away from On The Rocks in August after eight-and-a-half years.
