How evolving drinking habits are shaking up spirits in Spain – Market Intel

While traditional categories like gin and brandy face hurdles in Spain, other spirits are coming to the fore in a market still dominated by the on-premise.

If key economic indicators were cast-iron guarantees of success, the spirits market in Spain would be in rude health.Driven by a boom in tourism, as well as thriving financial services and technology sectors, the country’s GDP grew 3.2% last year, outpacing the likes of Germany, France and the UK. Even inflation, once as high as 11% in 2022, is now under control, falling to 2.8% in the last quarter of 2024.Despite the country’s strong headline economic figures, IWSR predicts that total beverage alcohol volumes in Spain will grow at a paltry CAGR of 1% over the next three years, with spirit
