Constellation Brands is on the lookout for a new chief customer officer at its beer division in the US.

Bill Renspie has “mutually agreed” with the company to stand down with immediate effect, Constellation confirmed to Global Drinks Intel today. The move brings to an end Renspie’s almost-five years with the beer unit, which operates solely in the US, where Constellation holds the licences for the former Grupo Modelo brands, Corona and Modelo.

Renspie joined Constellation in 2002, at one point holding the chief sales officer position at its beer business.

“Bill has made significant contributions to the growth and success of our beer division over the years, with support from our sales teams across the country and our ‘Gold Network’ distributor partners,” the group said. “We sincerely thank Bill for his contributions to our company and wish him the very best in his future endeavours.”

The recruitment process to find a replacement for Renspie, for whom the CCO was newly-created in April 2020, has begun, with Constellation flagging its “strong beer sales leadership team that remains focused on working with our … distributor partners to accelerate momentum for our beer portfolio in the year ahead”.

Earlier this month, speculation arose that Constellation was exploring an exit from the wine category, with the company choosing not to comment on the claim.
