The UK distribution of the RyeLaw scotch whisky brand is set to shift to Illva Saronno, with the Disaronno liqueur owner’s UK unit agreeing a three-year tie-up with Inchdairnie Distillery.

Disaronno International UK will take on the domestic distribution for Inchdairnie’s debut brand, which was launched less than a year ago. The six-year-old whisky carries a GBP110 (US$140) price-point in the UK.

Inchdairnie, which commenced operations in 2015, previously dealt with the distribution from its distillery in Fife.

“Since the release of RyeLaw, we have been working to expand our distribution in the UK and after having multiple discussions with potential partners,” said commercial director Graham Glen. “It became very apparent that Disaronno International UK were both a natural and strategic fit. They have a premium portfolio of brands … and they are experiencing strong growth in the prestige sector with their knowledgeable on-trade and off-trade teams.”

The expression is already distributed in the Benelux markets by Disaronno International.

Illva Saronno has conducted a brace of purchases in recent months: September saw the Italian company acquire a majority stake in Baltimore-based Sagamore Spirit, which specialises in rye whiskey. Then, late last month, a 25% holding in Engine Gin became full ownership of the Italian brand.
