Sláinte Irish Whiskey Co is bracing itself for wider international expansion of its namesake brand, lining up a partnership with New York-based advisor InterContinental Beverage Capital.

The tie-up, announced this week, will look to “identify capital formation strategies and resources” to facilitate Sláinte’s entry into more export markets “in the forthcoming years”. More specific details about the approach were not disclosed.

The announcement comes almost exactly a year after the whiskey’s US presence was expanded to include California, Florida, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Jersey, New York and Texas. Sláinte will also add Georgia and Pennsylvania to its roster in the first quarter of this year.

“This partnership with IBC marks an exciting step towards scaling this company and bringing it to its full potential in the coming years,” said co-founder – and actor & director – Liev Schreiber.

Among the areas that InterContinental claims expertise in are brand development and positioning as well as distributor, retail or online commercialisation.

Relative to its peers in spirits, the Irish whiskey segment looks to have had a healthy 2023 in the US: Recent figures for the country’s Control States from the National Alcohol Beverage Control Association show value sales rising by an average of 1% per month for the 11 months to the end of November, ahead of Scotch whisky and just behind vodka.
