Pernod Ricard has unveiled an addition to its spirits portfolio in India, launching its first domestically-produced single malt whisky.
Longitude77, which is named after the line of longitude that runs the north-to-south length of the country, is bottled under the Seagram’s brand name. Distilled in Dindori, Nashik in the state of Maharashtra, the expression is rolling out to Chandigarh, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh as well as its home state this week.
The single malt, which does not carry an age statement and is “double matured” in ex-bourbon then -wine casks, will also go on sale in Delhi Duty Free.
Speaking to Global Drinks Intel, a company spokesperson said Longitude77 is “set to expand its footprint globally, starting with a launch in Dubai in early 2024”. The price point at domestic retail was not immediately available.
The Indian single malt follows last week’s launch of The Chuan Pure Malt in China. The new whisky, available domestically now, comprises liquid from Pernod Ricard’s recently completed distillery in Sichuan province, blended with whisky produced in Scotland.
