Scotch whisky brand Mortlach has been paired by its owner, Diageo, with multi-discipline artist Philippe Starck.
The Speyside single malt has created the role of creative director for Starck and is set to release a new series of expressions, Mortlach x Starck, early next year. Details of what the “debut collection” will comprise were not disclosed.
“We are proud to be the first Scotch whisky brand he [Starck] has ever worked with,” said Diageo’s global reserve MD, Pedro Mendonça. “Together we will venture into creative new heights, reinventing what whisky will represent to a generation, reimagining and rebuilding the spirit of Mortlach.”
In late October, Diageo finally completed the divestment of blended Scotch business Windsor in South Korea. PT W Co is the brand’s new owner, after Bayside Private Equity and Metis Private Equity’s joint purchase, announced in March 2022, fell through.
