Colorado-based craft spirits producer Montanya Distillers is the subject of a sale to two of its “long-time” employees.

The company, founded in 2008 by outgoing CEO Karen Hoskin and her husband, Brice, has been offloaded to CRN Ventures, a new business set up by Megan Campbell and Renee Newton alongside strategic partner Sean Richards. Financial details were not disclosed.

Four years ago, Montanya, which produces its namesake US rum brand, benefitted from a minority-holding purchase by Constellation Brands’ brand incubator division. Details around what the transaction means for Constellation’s stake were not immediately available.

“This is the kind of acquisition that I would wish for every distillery founder,” said Hoskin, who will leave the distiller early next year. “Two of my incredible employees will take the helm with their chosen strategic partner, just when I am ready to step away. I am excited to see what they do next.”

Earlier this year, Moët Hennessy raised the presence of its Eminente Cuban rum, adding the global travel retail channel to its footprint.
