International Beverage Holdings has lined up its second acquisition of the month, this time in New Zealand for Cardrona Distillery.

The company, which handles a raft of international spirits brands for its parent, Thai Beverage Public Co, has spent an undisclosed sum on the move, which covers Cardrona’s single malt whisky brand along with The Reid Vodka, The Source Gin and liqueur line Rose Rabbit. The craft distiller, founded in 2015, will join recently-purchased Larsen Cognac on Interbev’s books.

According to Interbev, the focus going forward will be on investing in the company’s distillery in Wanaka on New Zealand’s South Island while also “maximising the potential of Cardrona’s brands in the core New Zealand, UK and USA markets”.

“Building Cardrona has been a remarkable journey, made possible through the work and support of many, many people,” said founder & MD Desiree Reid, who will continue in role. “I’m thrilled that International Beverage shares our belief in Cardrona’s quality and potential as we embark upon the next chapter of our story together.

“I look forward to working with their team to bring our spirits to more people in markets around the world in the future.”

Among the spirits brands already in Interbev’s stable are single malt Scotches An Cnoc, Balblair and Old Pulteney, Caorunn Scottish gin and Phraya Rum from Thailand.
