Here’s a round-up of the new launches from spirits brand owners in the week commencing 4 September.

Brown-Forman’s Jack Daniel’s Bonded Rye Whiskey

  • American whiskey, Tennessee rye, matured for “at least” four years, 50% ABV. Positioned as a permanent brand extension
  • Online pre-sale in the US from this week prior to a nationwide roll-out shortly afterwards
  • SRP of US31.99 per 70cl bottle
Jack Daniel's Bonded Rye
The ‘Bonded Rye’ line comprises whiskies that have been produced at a single distiller in a single season, then aged in a government-bonded warehouse for a minimum of four years

Bardstown Bourbon Co’s Kentucky Straight Bourbon finished in ex-stout barrels

  • American whiskey, Bourbon, 50% ABV. Blend that has been matured for between six and seven years, then finished for a year in ex-Bourbon County Brand Stout barrels from Goose Island
  • Released to the US off-premise this week in 24 states, also on sale online
  • SRP of $159.99, limited to around 42,000 units

Proximo Spirits’ Bushmills ‘World Wood’ series, 15- and 21-year-old Irish whiskies

  • Irish whiskey, single malts, 15 and 21 years old, both carry an ABV of 46%
  • Launching the month as global travel retail exclusives in Ireland and across Asia Pacific
  • SRPs of $90 [15-year-old] and $265, both per 70cl bottle
Bushmills 15 and 21 Year Olds from the World Wood series
The younger expression has been ex-Bourbon first- and second-fill casks, while the 21-year-old spent 18 years in ex-Bourbon barrels and ex-Oloroso Sherry butts before coming together for three years in former Marsala wine casks

Compass Box’s Metropolis blended Scotch

  • Scotch whisky, blended, 49% ABV
  • Released online at the Compass Box website on 20 September
  • SRP of GBP260 [US$328] per 70cl bottle. Limited to 5,910 units
Metropolis is the third bottling in the ‘Extinct Blends Quartet’ series from Compass Box, joining Delos, which was unveiled in January and Ultramarine from 12 months ago

Pernod Ricard’s Powers John’s Lane Cask Strength Irish whiskey

  • Irish whiskey, 12 years old, 57.8% ABV
  • Rolling out across Ireland as well as to Northern Ireland on 2 October. Also available from next month at Dublin Airport and online
  • SRP of EUR90 [US$97] per 70cl bottle
Named after the brand’s original John’s Lane distillery, the cask-strength version of Powers will be a permanent presence in the portfolio, released annually by batch

Kyrö Distillery Co’s Kyrö Finnish rye whisky extensions

  • Whisky, rye, Finland, all 47.2% ABV
  • On sale online at the craft distiller’s website from 18 September
  • SRPs start at GBP49.95 [US$63] for Kyrö Malt, then GBP54.95 for Kyrö Malt Oloroso and GBP59.95 for both Kyrö Wood Smoke and Kyrö Peat Smoke, all in 70cl bottles. Also available in 5 and 50cl packs
Kyrö Distillery Co has pulled together what it calls its “core” rye whisky portfolio in 70cl bottles, three years after debuting with a namesake malt

Takara Shuzo International’s Tomatin ‘The Italian Collection’ single malts

  • Scotch whisky, single malts, Highland, 12 years old, 46% ABV
  • Available worldwide through “select” spirits specialist outlets in the off-premise from this week
  • In the UK, SRP of GBP70 [US$88] per 70cl bottle, available in limited – albeit unspecified – numbers
Matured for ten years, the three expressions then spent two years in ex-Marsala, -Amarone and -Barolo wine casks
