Foley Family Wines has solidified its spirits intent, acquiring a distillery on the Nevada/California border.
The facility, located in the town of Minden in Nevada, comprises two distillation operations. One produces white spirits as well as American whiskey while the second is dedicated to single malt whisky.
Also included in the transaction are current stocks of Bourbon as well as single malt and rye whiskey. Specific details about the purchase, from former owners the Bently family, were not disclosed.
As well as taking over the production, Foley Family Wines will also handle sales and marketing of its pending spirits portfolio, which will be available through “national wholesale markets and direct-to-consumer channels”.
“Foley Family Wines has been expanding our luxury portfolio of wines since 1996, and we are eager to launch a full range of high-end spirits,” said company president Shawn Schiffer. “As the demand for spirits continues to grow and the consumer profile evolves, this is a strategic step for us.
“We look forward to integrating spirits brands into our national distribution network and to continuing the important vision of the Bently family.”
As well as winery operations in its home state of California, Foley Family Wines also owns assets in Oregon and Washington as well as in Argentina, France and New Zealand.
