Whyte & Mackay has created a brace of new senior positions as part of a wide-reaching review of its global travel retail unit.
The Scotch whisky division of Philippines-based Emperador has added GTR responsibilities to the UK & Europe MD position for incumbent Mike Greggs [below]. Consequently, Richard Trimby, who has been director for GTR since 2016, will leave the company after seven years.

Also taking on more is Clarisse Daniels, who moves up from head of marketing for GTR to the new position of regional director for operations in the channel in Europe, the Middle East, India & Americas. Daniels joined Whyte & Mackay four years ago from Pernod RIcard’s Chivas Brothers unit.

Other changes include the “elevation” of the regional directorship of Asia travel retail for Micheline Wong – further details were not disclosed – and the absorption of India’s GTR operations into Snehanshu Verma’s current job as business manager for the Middle East.

The moves are designed to “create greater synergies, with stronger connections between the domestic and travel retail teams”, Whyte & Mackay said.
Earlier this year, Scotch peer Edrington announced the outcome of a similar review of its GTR set-up.
