The Wine Group has extended its domestic footprint yet further, securing a “national strategic alignment” in the US with Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits.
The privately-owned producer and brand owner, which claims to be the largest wine exporter out of its home state of California, will leverage the tie-up to expand its portfolio in 11 states. The alignment, further details of which were not disclosed, builds on the “decades-long relationship” between the pair, according to Southern Glazer’s.
The markets that will benefit from The Wine Group’s stronger presence are:
- District of Columbia
- Florida
- Indiana
- Louisiana
- Maine
- Maryland
- Mississippi
- New Hampshire
- Oklahoma
- South Carolina and
- Texas
Southern Glazer’s will transition to assuming exclusive responsibility for the states from 1 May.
Earlier this month, the Miami-headquartered distributor confirmed its purchase of WEBB Banks in a transaction that strengthens its presence in the “Atlantic Basin”.
