Cuervo is kicking off the non-fungible token (NFT) debut for its 1800 Tequila brand through an ultra-high-end expression tie-up with BlockBar.com.
An auction on the website is currently open for a bottle of 1800 Colección Tequila alongside a silver-sculpted decanter created 15 years ago by artist Leonora Carrington. With a starting price of US$25,000, the lot will go to the highest bidder when the auction closes this Thursday.
The partnership represents the first Tequila to be auctioned by BlockBar and coincides with ‘Hispanic Heritage Month’ in the US. Also included in the lot will be a private tasting at Cuervo’s La Rojeña distillery in Jalisco, Mexico.
The auction can be accessed here.
According to Cuervo’s Proximo division in the US, the bottle of 1800 Colección features in the auction is “one of the rarest Tequilas in the world” and will be “the first of many 1800 Colección Tequila NFTs to come”.
