Beam Suntory has confirmed a capacity expansion project at its Booker Noe distillery in Kentucky.
The group’s Jim Beam Brands Co division will front a US$400m investment in the facility, with specific details set to be announced “very soon”. The news comes three years after the company commenced construction on the Fred B Noe Craft Distillery, also in Kentucky, as part of a $60m spend.
The latest move qualifies for up to $3m in tax incentives over 15 years through the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority, based around job creation and wage & benefits levels. A further $550,000 will be recouped by Beam Suntory for construction costs and building fixtures.
About 50 new full-time jobs will result from the expansion of the distillery, which is located in Boston, around 40 miles south of Louisville.
Late last month, Beam Suntory appointed Carlo Coppola to be the new MD for its James B Beam Distilling Co unit, replacing Malini Patel who has left the company after seven years.
